BRACKET

shelf | prototype

BRACKET shelf is developed through an experimental process using extruded clay. Its shape and dimensions are determined by the extrusion technique itself, allowing tools and material behaviour to define the outcome.

The design is based on the archetypal shelf bracket, reduced to a clear structural logic. A central support provides strength and stability, ensuring the form maintains its shape throughout production. The restrained geometry allows the material to remain primary.

The surface character is defined through glazing, shifting the shelf from a raw, earthy presence to a more industrial expression depending on finish.
Due to the extrusion process, the bracket can be scaled to different lengths while maintaining the same structural logic.

Made in collaboration with Aino Michelsen.

The project was shortlisted in Muuto Design Contest 001, selected among the top 8 proposals out of over 1,300 submissions.
